Joey Scouts
Joey Scouts is for boys and girls aged from 5 to 7 years. There are lots of fun activities that entertain and teach basic motor, craft skills, whilst encouraging communication and co-operation. Joeys is a unique and exciting way for children to learn about the environment, the community and their world while giving an introduction to scouting.

Meetings
Most meetings are at the on Monday’s from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. A meeting can consist of :
- Craft
- Games
- Team Activities
- Parent Participation Nights

The Uniform and badge placement
- Group scarf (supplied)
- Joeys Scout Shirt (tan inset)
- Blue webbing Scout belt
- Beige or stone coloured pants (as prescribed by Branch)
Badges are presented to the Joey Scout as they earn them and are placed onto the uniform as outlined in the diagram.
Badges
Joeys work towards earning their peak award the Joey Scout Challenge Award. Badge placements can be found here.
Outdoor Adventure Skills (OAS) are nine badges covering:
- Alpine
- Aquatic
- Boating
- Bushcraft
- Bushwalking
- Camping
- Cycling
- Paddling
- Vertical
Special interest Area (SIA) are six badges covering:
- Adventure and Sport
- Art and Literature
- Creating a Better World
- Environment
- Growth and Development
- STEM and Innovation
Leadership badges. These are designed for those Joeys showing interest in becoming a leader of the Unit as a Patrol Leader or Assistant Patrol Leader.
Joey Scout Challenge Award badge. This is the highest award to be earned in the Joey Scout Section. This requires completion of:
- All three core OAS to level 1
- Bushcraft
- Bushwalking
- Camping
- Six SIA including a minimum in two different areas
- Completion of a personal reflection
- Adventureous journey of at least three hours
- Achieved level three Milestone
