Sirius cup E1 2017E1
Sirius cup is a long running Scout Regatta & camp when Balmoral oval becomes a mini Jamborree site with troops from all over the state participating from Grafton to Lake Burley Griffin.
1/ The $12.00 only covers cost of camping overnight at Balmoral oval, a badge is also available for $2.50. Approximately $7.00 will be needed to cover transport costs using an OPAL card. (The 7 eleven on the corner of Station st & Prospect Hwy,Seven Hills sell them)
2/ Food will not be provided so the scouts have the option of self catering & cooking on their own gas stoves ( heximine stoves not allowed ) or buying their meals from the on-site BBQ catering – 4 meals x $6.00 approx. (check Sirius cup website for more information on food & prices). It is up to individual scouts to provide their own food, and have spending money for ice creams, etc., though I would suggest packing some extra (healthy) snacks as well.
3/ Own tents need to be brought along, Hike packs are recommended although distances to be walked are not too far.
4/ Pack light as for a hike: plate,knife,fork,spoon & cup (to suit your menu)/sleeping bag & sleepwear/lightweight mattress or newspaper/tent (or part of)/drink bottle/small 1st aid kit/torch/jumper/long pants/shorts/collared t-shirt/socks x 2/underwear x 2/toothbrush,paste & soap/swimmers & towel/sunscreen/wide brimmed hat(preferred to a cap)/rain poncho or jacket/water shoes/camera?/gas stove?/big Ziplock bag or two for wet clothes/ & whatever else you think you need, just remembering it is only 1 night. Not allowed – bare feet/thongs/crocs.
5/ This will be a patrol type easy going camp, it is up to the general agreement of the Scouts to decide which activities they participate in.
The Activities could include participating in canoe age races, Sunday Iron man competition, swimming at Mosman Baths or the baths at Chiltern Gardens, walking through bushland & around military installations overlooking the heads & Sydney harbour or just sitting around camp socializing, take your pick.
6/ Ideally I will require a parent to also come along (its not often you get to stay at Balmoral beach for $12 & the coffee shops aren’t to bad). Any predicted bad weather may halt the activity.
7/Full uniform to be worn to & from the activity.
8/All swimming will be done at baths & only as a group.
9/ DO NOT bring any electronic devices, valuables etc., as No Responsibility will be taken if they are lost, stolen or damaged.
Please reply A.S.A.P if you plan on coming along then tents can be organized.
If you are unable to make the event in the morning due to sporting commitments etc, you may be dropped off at the campsite later.
