A1 Yacht Shop Sailing Day 2014

Dress code. Full Uniform for Travel to and From Venue

Parent transport on the day is essential.

Parents and Family members are permitted to have a go at this activity. We must have numbers & permission notes- No later than 20th February of both Scouts, parents with prior sailing experience to assist in the first hour of activity and any family members wishing to HAVE A GO at sailing 13ft Hobbie Cats. SUCH AWESOME FUN…

Please come dress ready to go on the water,

Please ensure you bring. Spray jacket and a change of dry clothes including socks and undies plus dry shoes and warm jumper .Hat with chin strap (NO BASEBALL CAPS PERMITTED. Water boots or old sandshoes, sunscreen, old T shirt to wear whilst on the water & Towel

You will require Drink bottle water- Morning and Afternoon tea- Lunch.

 

Parents the boxes for water activities and swimming has been ticked , however we do need you to complete question that states whether your child can swim 50 metres. This is especially important for all those new to scout section so we know if you are a proficient swimmer.

 

PFD must be warn at all times and supervising leaders instructions must be obeyed to ensure safety on the day. No one is permitted in the water unless approved by Yacht Shop staff who are instructing & running the day.

Scouts will need to transported by parents from Hall to Lake Illawarra and return at the start of day and finish of the day. THIS ACTIVITY IS SUBJECT TO WEATHER BEING SUITABLE AND YACTH SHOP STAFF WILL RING US ON THE MORNING TO ADVISE IF WE NEED TO CANCEL IF IT IS DEEMED TO DANGEROUS.

For Parents who do not wish to sail. Just bring your fold up chair and picnic lunch for family and enjoy this relaxing day out. COFFEE & Tea are available from the Sailing Club next door if you prefer the brewed variety.

A1-Abseil-Rescue-March-14

Successful completion of this course will earn participants the Abseil Recovery Certificate (this allows participation in activities such as caving and canyoning).

 

Scouts must be over the age of 12 and have earned the Scout Abseil Proficiency Badge and must have done the Abseil Skill Day.

 

(Leaders please fill in leaving and returning details on this form according to transport arrangements.)

 

Locations:

Sunday 23 March: Cliff Ave Wahroonga. Start 8.30 am, finish 4 pm.

 

All participants should bring with them

Bring lunch,

water,

raincoat if it looks like rain.

prussik slings – 5 metres of 6 mm diameter rope.

 

Please note the practical days can be called off if it is raining or fire in the area.

Region_Water_Fun_Day_Mar2014_Pt_1-2

This is an opportunity where both Scouts, parents and siblings can participate in some Fun Water Activities. We will have a large number of canoes, along with a number of sailing craft and possibly some power boats on the water. Joeys participating in canoeing will need to have either a parent with them, or at least a Level 2 Flat water Canoeist in the boat with them.

 

This is a non uniform day, however youth members to wear their scarves for opening parade. You will need to bring a broad brim hat (No Base Ball Caps), sunscreen, water bottle, towel, swimmers and river shoes.(or spare shoes that can get wet.)

 

PFD’s will be provided. All participants while in water craft must wear a correctly fitting PFD, and enclosed footwear. (River Shoes) Crocs are not suitable. All scouts must also wear River shoes while doing swimming activities. It is highly recommended that everyone in the water wears appropriate footwear.

 

There are limited BBQ facilities on site. There will be a food store selling drinks and hot food, or if you prefer you can pack a picnic lunch from home.

 

Cost for the day including all activities is $5.00 per person, or $20.00 for a family. Children under 5 are free. Each paying person will be issued with a wrist band to wear on the day.

 

Please complete the A1 form and forward it to Region Office by Tuesday 25 March 2014. We are unable to to register people on the day.
