This is an exceedingly beautiful bush walk,Meet at scout hall 7.00am Sunday 28th of November, drive to Evans lookout rd Blackheath, Park the cars at Neates Glen car park about 9.15am then walk down into a valley through massive boulders covered in moss & lichens past the waratah’s to a crystal clear creek (which further upstream is Medlow Bath’s water supply), follow paths cut in the side of the cliffs at the beginning of last century, walk through the roots of a huge tree covering a cave in the rock, walk through the cave into the back of a waterfall it’s magnificent, continue on through the ancient landscape downstream to the base of Evans Lookout steps for lunch & a well deserved break.
Now the hard part, its only 428m climb, don’t count the steps just keep going its not so bad if you don’t stop until the top.
At the top after gasping for air & doing your best dying impression ,look back down the valley & be amazed at what you can do. The view over the Grose valley is well worth the walk albeit in a roundabout way. the walk from the lookout back to the cars is quite easy, plan to be at the cars about 2.00pm & have a break. Then drive to Blackheath shops for a cold drink or an ice cream in the park before driving back to the hall at 4.45pm. (so bring a small amount of money) The Hike is about 9km for more information Google wildwalks

Scout E1 Sirius cup E1 16
Sirius cup is a long running Scout Regatta & camp when Balmoral oval becomes a mini jamboree site with troops from all over the state participating from Grafton to Lake Burley Griffin.
The Cub section is going this year & some scouts have asked if they could go.
1/The $12.00 only covers cost of camping overnight at Balmoral oval, approximately $7.00 will be needed to cover transport costs using an OPAL card. ( I would highly recommend purchasing one for your scout it makes traveling much easier. the 7 eleven on the corner of Station st & Prospect Hwy, Seven Hills sell them)
2/ Food will not be provided so the scouts have the option of self catering & cooking on their own gas stoves ( heximine stoves not allowed ) or buying their meals from the onsite bbq catering, 4 meals x $6.00 approximate.( Please check sirius cup website for more information on food & prices) It is up to individual scouts to provide their own food, I would suggest packing some extra snacks
3/ Own tents will have to be brought along, Hike packs are recommended although distances to be walked are not too far.
4/ Pack light as for a hike, plate, knife, fork, spoon & cup in a mess kit ?,sleeping bag & sleepwear/lightweight mattress or newspaper/tent or part of/drink bottle/small 1st aid kit/jumper/long pants/shorts/collared t shirt/socks/underwear x 2/toothbrush & toothpaste/swimmers & towel/sunscreen/wide brimmed hat preferable/raincoat/healthy snacks/big Ziplock bag or 2 for wet clothes/camera?/gas stove? & whatever else you may think of just remembering it is only 1 night.
5/ This will be a patrol type easy going camp, it is up to the general agreement of the scouts to decide which activities they participate in.
The Activities include participating in canoe age races, Iron man competition, swimming at Mosman Baths or the baths at Chiltern Gardens, walking through bushland & around military installations overlooking the heads & Sydney harbour or just sitting around camp socializing take your pick.
6/ I will require a parent to also come along if no other leaders are able to make it ( its not often you get to stay at Balmoral beach for $12 & the coffee shops aren’t to bad ) If there is not enough scouts attending the activity may be cancelled & any predicted bad weather may also halt the activity.
7/Full uniform to be worn to & from the activity.
8/Be sure to tick the SWIMMING box if you want to swim. All swimming will be done at baths & only as a group
9/ DO NOT bring any electronic devices, valuables etc as No Responsibility will be taken if they are lost ,stolen or damaged.
