Grand Canyon day walk at Blackheath
Nov 29 @ 07:00 – 16:45

E1_-_Day Hike Grand Canyon

This is an exceedingly beautiful bush walk,Meet at scout hall 7.00am Sunday 28th of November, drive to Evans lookout rd Blackheath, Park the cars at Neates Glen car park about 9.15am then walk down into a valley through massive boulders covered in moss & lichens past the waratah’s to a crystal clear creek (which further upstream is Medlow Bath’s water supply), follow paths cut in the side of the cliffs at the beginning of last century, walk through the roots of a huge tree covering a cave in the rock, walk through the cave into the back of a waterfall it’s magnificent, continue on through the ancient landscape downstream to the base of Evans Lookout steps for lunch & a well deserved break.
Now the hard part, its only 428m climb, don’t count the steps just keep going its not so bad if you don’t stop until the top.
At the top after gasping for air & doing your best dying impression ,look back down the valley & be amazed at what you can do. The view over the Grose valley is well worth the walk albeit in a roundabout way. the walk from the lookout back to the cars is quite easy, plan to be at the cars about 2.00pm & have a break. Then drive to Blackheath shops for a cold drink or an ice cream in the park before driving back to the hall at 4.45pm. (so bring a small amount of money) The Hike is about 9km for more information Google wildwalks
