FULL UNIFORM TO BE WORN ON TRAIN. As always – NO junk food, phones, electronics, money etc
This camp is as described a BEACH HOLIDAY CAMP. Winston Hills Cubs have been there before & it is great. The beach has 2 large ocean baths in front of the surf life saving club which we will be using for swimming. The beach is also great for sand activities & the promenade is grassed with trees.
Listed is the program for the camp & what the cubs need to bring – items needed are listed in italics.
OPAL CARD with sufficient credit
8.45am – Meet at Winston Hills Scout Hall in uniform with overnight bag/sleeping bag/sleeping mattress to be left at hall to come down by car in the afternoon. (Cubs need a day pack with a filled water bottle, healthy snack, beach towel, swimmers & swim shirt & closed shoes, hat & sunscreen).
9.10am – Depart from hall by parent’s cars to Westmead railway station (car pool if possible) BY 9.25am. We are unable to wait for late arrives!! There is plenty of on-street parking.
9.37am – Train to Redfern arriving 10.10am, then change trains for Austinmer 10.29am – Arrive Austinmer 11.55am & walk 200ms to hall, Opening Parade (while Parents make sandwiches for lunch) & then get ready for the beach.
12.30pm – Walk 200m to Beach, cross the road at the traffic lights to the promenade & enjoy lunch by the sea.
1.00pm – Walk off lunch to the headland & back along the flat rock platform, if the tide permits to the pools for an afternoon swimming & playing in & on the sand. Fruit & some biscuits with cordial will be offered for afternoon tea. Does it sound like fun yet?
4.45pm – Wash off the sand & return to the hall for a sausage & salad sandwich dinner with good old scout cordial to wash it down.
5.30pm – Wash up & get bedding ready. (Mess Kit – Bag with plate, bowl, mug, knife, fork, spoon & tea towel)
6.30pm – ICE CREAM ON THE BEACH to watch the sunset, then games.
8.15pm – Shower & get ready for bed. (Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towel & pyjamas, plastic bags for wet/dirty clothes)
9.00pm – LIGHTS OUT. NO NOISE AFTER 9.00PM
7.00am – Breakfast of a variety of cereals with milk followed by pancakes with maple syrup with your choice of apple or orange juice (coffee & tea for the parent helpers & leaders of course). The Cubs will then make their sandwiches (& wrap them ready for lunch) Followed by washing up & cleaning of teeth then getting ready for a morning at the beach. (Full change of clothing in overnight bag)
7.45am PACK AWAY BEDDING & OVERNIGHT BAG to be loaded in car to be transported to meet with the Cubs at Westmead Station.
8.15am – Beach, swimming at baths, exploring rock pools, playing in sand etc
9.30am – Morning Tea – Fruit & some biscuits with cordial.
11.45am – Return to hall & change into uniform then pack bags ready for travel.
12.15pm – Lunch (pre-prepared sandwiches) then Closing parade.
12.53pm – Catch train from Austinmer station to arrive Redfern at 2.13 pm to change trains for Westmead at 2.23 pm.
2.56pm – Arrive at Westmead station to meet with baggage & be picked up by parents.
P.S We need a couple of parent helpers.
Let a Leader know if you need to borrow an air mattress. NO lollies, phones, electronic games, money etc

We are setting up the the Australia day Breakfast at Third settlement reserve for the Hills-Kellyville Rotary

Scouts and Venturers will be required to help set-up from 6:30am at the hall, Joeys and Cubs are welcome to help as well, however they can come down from 7:30 for breakfast and be part of the Australia day ceremony from 9am.
